Alpine Renaturation
A prime example of how nature conservation and alpine farming can go hand in hand. And it shows what is possible when everyone pulls together…
At the Hochgebirgs-Naturpark Zillertaler Alpen (High Alpine Nature Preserve), the groundwork has been successfully laid for the renaturation of the largest alpine floodplain forest along the Zillertal valley. Around 150 young grey alder trees were planted to support the natural regeneration of the endangered alder population. The successful implementation was preceded by almost eight years of intensive planning and preparatory work. In collaboration with the non-profit private foundation “Blühendes Österreich”, the REWE Group, BILLA and Henkel Austria this ecologically valuable habitat will be an example of a successful renaturation project, made for future generations.
