analogue photography
If you would ask me about the love of my life,
I certainly will give you the answer:
analogue photography!
analogue photography
is an art & candid handcraft
you can't substitute!
In an era where a high budget is often the only requirement to call oneself a "pro," it’s time to revive the discipline of a handcraft that was once a dedicated, multi-year profession. Today, fancy gear, a few days of YouTube tutorials, and an excessive over-use of Photoshop are frequently seen as the only necessary qualifications. The "trigger-happy monkey" approach, hitting the shutter thousands of times to substitute for experience and knowledge, has become common practice. As the "Infinite Monkey Theorem" suggests: out of 10,000 shots, a few are bound to be usable. Now, with the surge of AI, some believe that typing prompts into a text field makes them an "artist."
In this distorted progression, I believe it is vital to restore value to a craft that has been lost in a world of manipulation and hyper-self-fulfillment.
By offering professional analogue productions, I provide my clients with more than just a day rate. You receive a superb, unique product, rooted in the result of decades of experience and true dedication. It’s an exceptional look and feel that cannot be entirely reproduced by digital means. The option of exclusive analogue prints makes this a refined, inimitable service. For details on techniques, film stocks, or delivery times, please check the FAQs below or contact me directly.

find some FAQ's
about booking your
individual analogue shooting
do I have to wait longer getting my pictures?
Generally not! Depending on the films used, you'll get your pictures (like at digital-productions) within 24h after the shooting. Standard films like every basic ILFORD, Kodak or Fuji film (no matter they are in Black&white or in C41) I develop and digitalize in my mobile lab. Special films like Kodak Vision 3 (Silbersalz35), I need to send into a special laboratory. You'll receive the first previews within 3-4 working days. But also on those special-films - I'm already working on a reliable mobile developing treatment.
is it possible to get prints?
For sure it's possible to get high quality analogue prints. From regular formats up to large scale prints - pretty much everything's possible. I usually work with ILFORD multigrade paper. Other photographic papers on request. Just ask me for possible solutions and we'll find a tailored concept for your demands!
how's about the price for an analogue shooting?
Shooting in analogue means also higher basic expenses, like film material or development. In total it's also more work, compared to a digital production. Therefor the day rates are of course fractional higher. Please contact me for your custom offer and a detailed price list.
how many pictures I get from a day shooting?
The amount of delivered pictures is depending on the kind of production. As example: Shooting a company portrait you'll receive around 40-60 final pictures. A landscape specific shooting will result in 5 to 10 pictures. A more detailed number you'll receive after a preliminary-talk about your demands and the project. But - it will be the same amount, like with a digital-production
what's the difference to a digital shooting?
Next to a unique aesthetics and an organic grain, hardly to reproduce with digital techniques, you receive a product you be literally able, to hold in your hands. Handcrafted with love. Delivered in digital. And as additional option, available as analogue prints and/or negative slides. The actual shooting do not differ from a digital production!
what kind of films you use?
I'm working on 35mm films in a Canon EOS 3, Canon AE-1 and an Olympus OM-1. Some of my standard films I use are: ILFORD SFX, Delta or color-films like the Kodak Ektar 100. Depending on the scenery or kind of production, I also love to work with cine or experimental films. See the next item...
is it possible to produce on special films?
Yes that's possible! I love to work on experimental films as well special cine films like the Silbersalz, Kodak Vision 3 or CINESTILL films. In addition I offer a wide stock of expired films, bringing a very special look to the final photographs. I also offer experimental developing processes like a "Caffeenol" development.
do I get the negatives?
For an additional charge you'll get the original negatives. The standard delivery from a shooting day, are the final pictures in high resolution jpgs 5616x3744 with 300dpi. Details regarding the usage rights you'll find in my price list!

First Steps
My first approach to photography was made by my mothers compact camera. A simple Minolta from the kind "idiot-proof" and without special functions. But for venturing through my first steps, this little camera was pretty much perfect. And to coin a phrase: "the best camera is that camera you got with you".

Discovering the Passion
With the age of 16 I bought my first camera with a few more features. The Canon AE1 was a massive upgrade to a single mode compact camera. Getting the scope to have more control on the settings and the possibility to change lenses, was the ignite for a deep passion - coming with me for a very long time...

Establishing a Solid Hobby
With the investment in a Canon EOS 300N SLR and a couple standard lenses, I found my perfect setup for the next years. My main focus was mostly on landscapes, made during mountain tours around the eastern and western alps. During this time, photography was a constant companion - but not my main focus in life. It was more a perfect addition to my deep passions: mountaineering, climbing and freeride skiing.

The Way to Professional Photography
In 2007 with the change to a semi-professional digital camera, I started with the foundation to become a professional photographer. The first 2 years I spend most of the time in refining the basic techniques, my camera handling and shooting various sceneries. With the big chance going next level, I invested in my first professional equipment with a Canon 50D and a nice set of "L" lenses in 2009. From that day on, I started officially as a pro-photographer, with a lot of up's and even more down's - like in mountaineering ;)

Offering Professional Analogue Photography
While shooting mainly in digital over the years, I always said: "One day I wanna be able "to effort" shooting in analogue only - as a professional". Bringing back the real handcraft and photography as a legit profession. Specially with the rise of A.I. it became even more important, to keep authentic handcrafts alive. Made by human individuals!
