Discovering the unseen
in a complex world
about me
My name is Flo Smith. I am a digital and analogue working photographer specialized in documentary photography, authentic human portrayals, quiet geometries, and the raw environments of extreme sports. Together with my dog, Moidl, I navigate the far corners of Europe to capture the decisive moment.

My work is rooted in slow journalism and a commitment to raw, unscripted storytelling. By living and working in my overlander, I immerse myself deeply in every environment, from inhospitable terrains to the social frontlines of our society. Documenting reality, unfiltered.
::: analogue attitude :::
The essence of my work is solid and reliable handcraft with a dedicated documentary approach, captured with an analogue attitude. Free from any Photoshop gimmicks and strictly in-frame: candid and pure photography with a decent pinch of Rock ’n’ Roll!
::: a concept between
pragmatism and passion :::
I have spent almost twenty years of my life living abroad, chasing my dreams - driven by my dedications. After a short break, it’s time to head back out: to reconnect with my lifelong passions for mountains, travel, social issues, and photography.
The idea of living and working from an overlanding van evolved from years of experience. I realized that logistical overhead, such as flights and accommodation, is often a major hurdle. For a client, it’s rarely appealing to hire a photographer when such costs eat up a big part of the budget. My overlander setup changes that. It allows me to offer my regular rates and without additional travel expenses, no matter where you are in Europe. This freedom also allows me to remain on-site longer, deeply immersing myself in landscape projects or social documentaries while seamlessly combining assignments with my personal work. Founded by pragmatism - driven by passion.

Frozen Happiness
The story about the love to skiing, mountains and the frozen happiness - named snow
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow men. True nobility lies in being superior to your former self.
Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the result.
I don't use my camera to record the world, but to find my peace within it. My photographs are a distillation of a too loud reality and a longing for visual clarity.
Like so many works that have had a great impact on human thinking, it makes points that, once they are grasped, have a ring of almost self-evident truth; yet they are still blindly ignored by a disconcertingly large proportion of people who should know better.
When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.
